I recently handled a Florida case where a 16 year old kid committed some vehicle burglaries.� This is a relatively common crime where kids go into unlocked cars and steal change and whatever else they think might be worth something.�But a few days later, I got an outraged call from his mother because his full name - first, last, and middle, �AND his home address and date of birth were in the newspaper.� When I Googled�it, sure enough, his name, address and all identifying information were in several newspapers.�
My understanding of the law was that juvenile names, especially alleged defendants in crimes, were confidential.� Apparently, not anymore.� As of July 2008, any child charged (not convicted) of a felony offense is not exempt from public record.�� In fact, I went to the Hernando County Florida Sheriff's Office website and found a PRESS RELEASE with this kid's name in it.� Apparently, the Hernando County Sheriff's Office finds it good press to solve silly crimes. (They recently arrested a 14 year old boy for having CONSENSUAL sex with a 12 year old girl)
So I looked up the NEW LAW and found, indeed, it was legal to publish the names of juvenile defendants (Florida Statute 985.04).� However, the Clerk's Office, nor the State Attorney's Office will provide you with any information on juvenile cases.�

Tips Kesehatan Kulit: Mengatasi atau Menghilangkan Jerawat dengan Lidah Buaya
Bagi ibu saya maupun saya, jerawat bukanlah hal yang asing. Tidak hanya jerawat, komedo maupun bintik-bintik yang mengganggu pemandangan muka pun tidak terlewatkan mampir di muka saya maupun ibu saya. Ini mungkin karena saya seorang pria atau lelaki sedang ibu saya seorang wanita.
Tips Kesehatan mengatasi atau menghilangkan jerawat ini saya beri catatan sedikit yang berkaitan dengan parah tidaknya jerawat yang mampir di pipi anda. Jikalau anda mememiliki jerawat yang cukup banyak dan memiliki kulit yang sensitif dengan jerawat, saya merasa bahwa cara yang akan saya berikan ini tidaklah manjur bagi anda. Hal ini mengingat pengalaman ibu saya yang hanya memiliki jerawat yang sedikit.
Tanaman Lidah buaya tumbuh lumayan banyak di teras rumah kami sehingga untuk mendapatkannya bukanlah hal yang sulit. Hal ini mungkin sedikit berbeda dengan anda yang tidak menyukai tanam menanam di pekarangan rumah. Kita langsung saja. Apa yang dilakukan ibu saya untuk menghilangkan jerawat atau komedo? Inilah yang saya saksikan.
Ambil satu daun Lidah Buaya dan Potonglah menjadi beberapa bagian. Kemudian iris kulit luarnya sebagian sampai tampak daging dan lendirnya yang putih. Nah oleskan saja dibagian yang muncul jerawat. Jika anda cukup rajin melakukannya tiap pagi dan sore atau sebelum tidur, semoga jerawat anda bisa mengering dan hilang dalam 3 hari. Setidaknya inilah yang terjadi pada ibu saya. Sedang saya sendiri karena dasarnya malas dengan hal seperti ini, jerawat saya masih banyak dan saya biarkan tumbuh di pipi dan muka.

Impaired Driver Injures Polk County, FL Deputy Near Lake Hamilton, FL
Polk County, FL�Sargeant, Bob Barnes was seriously injured this Tuesday while stopping a suspected hit-and-run driver on Lake Hatchineha Road near Lake Hamilton, FL.
According to an article in the Lakeland Ledger, Monica Casanova, 24, was the suspected driver of a hit-and-run incident that had been reported.� Three off-duty officers were notified of the incident and alerted that Casanova could be traveling near the area.� One deputy spotted Casanova's vehicle with front-end vehicle damage in the westbound lane on Lake Hatchineha Road.�
At that time, Sgt. Bob Barnes attempted to block Casanova's path by parking his vehicle at the intersection of S.R. 17.� Sgt. Barnes then drew his gun, approached Casanova and ordered her to get out of the vehicle but she was unresponsive. As Sgt. Barnes proceeded to reach into the vehicle to remove Casanova, she hit the gas pedal. Casanova proceeded to drive and struck Barnes' patrol car before striking a group of trees.
Casanova told investigators she had consumed a bag of cocaine and four large vodka drinks. She sustained injuries and was taken to Lake Wales Medical Center for minor injuries. Sgt. Barnes was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center where he remains in stable condition.
Casanova is charged with aggravated battery on an officer, resisting an officer with violence, two counts of leaving an accident scene with damage, reckless driving, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A 2000 study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported an impaired driver for every 110 miles driven in Florida.� That year, Florida police records revealed 23, 578 car crashes involving a driver or pedestrian with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .01 or more.�
A more recent study, performed by the NHTSA in 2007, states that drivers are considered to be impaired if their BAC is .08 g/dL or higher.� An alcohol impaired-driving fatality is defined as any fatality involving a driver with a minimum .08 BAC.�
We all know drinking and driving don't mix. Impaired driving puts lives at risk.� The defendant in this story now faces criminal charges for intentional acts, which may not have occurred but for her consumption of drugs and alcohol.� In my practice as an injury lawyer in Polk County, Florida, I represent victims of automobile accidents. If the at fault party is convicted of DUI, the injured party may be entitled to punitive damages.

Two Frostproof, FL locals seriously injured in Train-Car Wreck
Betty Cramer, 69, and Billy Jack Rollins, 73, both of Frostproof, FL are in critical condition at Lakeland Regional Medical Center after colliding with a CSX train this morning.�
According to an article in the Lakeland Ledger, the crash occurred at approximately 1:47 a.m. on U.S. 98 near West Frostproof Road in Frostproof, FL.� The CSX train was traveling northbound when Cramer, who was driving a 2002 Hyundai Elantra, struck the 24th train car. The impact caused three freight cars to derail.� The Hyundai overturned and landed on its roof.� Rollins was ejected from the vehicle and it is unknown whether they were wearing seatbelts.� +

Authorities say the couple divorced in 1972 but reside together in Cramer's home in Frostproof, FL.� Though the vehicle was traveling toward the couple's home, it remains unclear where they were headed at the time of the collision.� The couple has five children together. Family members had no idea how the crash could have happened and commented that Crammer travels across very same track three to four times per day.
The CSX train travels from Lakeland to Sebring and back and services business along the route.� One of the derailed cars was a tanker while the other two are "hopper" cars. The hoppers resemble boxcars and are used to carry nonhazardous granular materials like sand or fertilizer.� Luckily, all three cars were empty at the time of the incident.�
According to the Department of Transportation, the track utilizes approximately twenty seven trains per day.� There are cross-arms and signals located at the crossing designed to notify drivers of the oncoming train.� According to investigators, the crossing was operational at the time of the crash.
U.S. 98 was closed most of the morning and was reopened at about 11 a.m. after the tracks had been repaired.� The accident remains under investigation.�

New US Supreme Court ruling affects Floridians
On April 21, 2009, the U.S. Supreme Court handed down an opinion which will directly affect the manner in which law enforcement in Florida, and across the country, can search vehicles during traffic stops.� Prior to this decision, law enforcement typically searched a vehicle once the driver or a passenger was arrested for any crime, even a traffic charge such as�Driving while License is Suspended or Revoked.� Practically speaking, this meant that when a driver was arrested and placed in the back of the officer's patrol car in handcuffs, the police could search the car.�
�
�The case of�Arizona v. Gant clarified some of the Supreme Court's previous cases which addressed this issue, and concluded that "Police may search a vehicle incident to a recent occupant's arrest only if the arrestee is within reaching distance of the passenger compartment at the time of the search, or it is reasonable to believe the vehicle contains evidence of the offense of arrest."� This means that if you are arrested for a crime involving drugs or guns, they can still search the car once you are arrested.� However, if the arrest is for a traffic offense or something that a search of the car has nothing to do with, they should not be able to search.
Be aware that the police will use coercive tactics to get your consent to search, or may be able to conduct an inventory search if your car is impounded.� However, the law now in place should prevent unbridled searches of vehicles if police are following the law.

Kandungan coklat, yaitu epicathecin flavonol, terbukti bermanfaat untuk kesehatan jantung. Hal itu dikemukakan oleh para peneliti dari Heinrich-Heine University. Diharapkan hasil penelitian tersebut dapat mendorong adanya metode pengobatan yang baru untuk menjaga kesehatan jantung.
Penelitian dilakukan pada sukarelawan Kuna Indian yang tinggal di Pulau San Blas, dekat pantai Panama. Tekanan darah yang tinggi maupun tanda-tanda lainnya dari penyakit jantung cukup jarang ditemui pada kaum mereka karena mereka mengonsumsi flavonol dalam jumlah yang besar, yang terkandung dalam coklat, yaitu 3-4 gelas setiap hari.
Namun, orang-orang Kuna yang bermigrasi ke kota Panama hanya mengonsumsi coklat 4 gelas per minggu. Dibandingkan dengan yang pindah ke daratan, kandungan nitrogen oksida dalam urine mereka yang tetap tinggal di Pulau San Blas adalah dua kali lebih besar.
Nitrogen oksida adalah kandungan kimia yang berperan untuk aliran darah dalam arteri. Penelitian itu menunjukkan bahwa epicathecin mempengaruhi sirkulasi dalam kesehatan jantung.
Penelitian pada sukarelawan Kuna merupakan salah satu dari lima penelitian untuk menentukan peran epicathecin dalam sirkulasi darah. Penelitian lainnya menunjukkan bahwa:
Kadar nitrogen oksida dalam darah lebih tinggi pada mereka yang mengonsumsi flavonol (yang banyak terkandung dalam coklat) dibandingkan mereka yang mengonsumsi coklat dengan kandungan flavonol yang rendah.
Kandungan epicathecin yang lebih tinggi dalam aliran darah akan menyebabkan aliran darah yang baik.
Epicathecin murni yang kita konsumsi memiliki efek yang sama seperti konsumsi coklat biasa yang kaya akan flavonoid.
Berdasarkan hal tersebut, diketahui bahwa epicathecin merupakan salah satu kandungan dalam coklat yang memiliki manfaat sangat menguntungkan untuk kesehatan jantung.

Should I Lie to the Police?
Like all things legal - that depends . . .
I was reading a recent case from�Florida's Third District Court of Appeals�where a juvenile driver was stopped for an expired tag.� The officer decided not to give him a citation since the tag was only 10 days expired.� As�the officer�was about to let him go, the officer�asked, �
�"[I]s there anything on you or in this vehicle that I need to know about. Illegal, that I need to know about." D.A. responded, "[Y]eah, there's a baggy of marijuana which is in the center console." Nunez seized the bag of marijuana and arrested D.A."�

D.A. argued on�appeal�that because the traffic stop was ending in no issuance of a citation, the officer had no right or probable cause to ask more questions.�� See D.A. v. State of Florida, 3rd DCA, April 29, 2009.
The 3rd DCA agreed with the cop.� The Court said that because a traffic stop is a legal seizure, the officer was justified in asking a question.� Interestingly, had D.A. refused to answer; the officer, without probable cause, couldn't have done anything further.� Specifically the court said:� "That law includes the ability to ask unrelated questions, subject, of course, to the right of the detainee to refuse to answer." (Emphasis added)
The answer to the question above: No, you shouldn't lie, BUT maybe you should refuse to answer.�Just be quiet, and don't talk, the more you talk the bigger the hole you usually dig.� Besides, �the police�will usually twist your words and lie themselves, so it usually does no good to talk.
